Steamboat Springs - January, 2018

We spent a week in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in January visiting the western Brabec contingent (Dan, Jill, Alexa and Haley) and watching our granddaughters ski jump in competition. When we arrived on Wednesday we were expecting watch the girls compete in the Hitchins Brothers jump competition at Howelsen Hill that afternoon/evening. Unfortunately it was raining and the event was cancelled. The rain stopped, the temps dropped and the area had a few inches of snow before the regional Nordic Combined and Special Ski Jumping competition on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday.

The ski jumping portion of the event was held on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. Alexa jumped on the HS 45 hill and Haley jumped on the HS 30 and 45 hills on Friday. Alexa jumped on the HS 75 hill on Saturday morning. She also was a fore jumper on the HS 100 hill. In the afternoon, both girls competed in the cross-country portion of the Nordic Combined race. Alexa came in first in the Nordic Combined for U16 Girls and Haley came in 1st in the U12 Girls category. Photos and links to some videos are shown below.
