We drove from home to Charlotte, NC yesterday so we could take a direct flight from there to San José, Costa Rica on American Airlines. Our departure from Charlotte was uneventful and the pilot announced that we would arrive in San José an hour early. After we landed he announced that the gate where we were to stop was still occupied so we had to wait. Quite a while later, he told us that we were going to park on the tarmack where there would be buses to take us from the airplane to the terminal. When we got to the terminal we had to wait at least 1/2 hour for our checked luggage to catch up with us. After that, customs was a breeze. We were met by a representative from Caravan ouside the terminal and we were taken to the Barcelo San José Palacio hotel. The only activities for the rest of the day were a welcome briefing and dinner.
