Colorado & Arizona - October 2015

We started this 10-day vacation with a flight from Pittsburgh to Denver on Wednesday, September 30th and a drive to Steamboat Springs to visit Dan, Jill, Alexa and Haley. The next day we toured the Yampa River Botanic Park and walked part of the Core Trail along the Yampa River. When walking back to our care we saw a family of moose. Later we went to watch Alexa at her gymnastics class.

On Friday afternoon we drove to Golden, Colorado and spent the weekend watching Haley and her teammates compete in a soccer tournament. They played two games on Saturday and one on Sunday morning. (We watched Alexa and her teammates compete in the same tournament last year.) The game on Sunday was over before noon. Dan, Jill, Alexa and Haley headed for home and we had time to kill before our evening flight to Phoenix so we toured the Denver Botanic Garden.

We spent Sunday night in Phoenix. On Monday morning we drove to Tonopah (which is just west of Phoenix off I-10) and walked the 40-acres of land that is in the trust set up by Chuck's mother. Then we drove to Sedona to do some hiking and touring for a couple days. On Thursday we drove back to Phoenix with a stop on the way to see Montezuma Well. We ahd two flights to get back to Pittsburgh with a short layover in Houtson. We got back to Pittcburgh shortly after 10 pm EDT, which was 7PM MST (Arizona does not observe daylight savings time). We got home shortly after midnight.
